Sweet Georgia Brown is a soul food gem in Dallas! Don't let the line scare you--it moves quickly, and the food is absolutely worth it. Just make sure you're ready with your order when you reach the front. I finally decided on the pork chops, and they were juicy and seasoned to perfection. But let me tell you, the real showstoppers were the dressing and the pinto beans. Both were absolute perfection--seasoned just right and bursting with flavor. Honestly, all of the sides were incredible! I had macaroni and cheese, yams, and greens, and every single bite was amazing. My daughter got the fried chicken dinner, with four big, juicy, and well-seasoned pieces of chicken. My other daughter went for the veggie plate and loved the corn. My niece chose the barbecue three-meat plate, and we all shared desserts--a slice of lemon cake and German chocolate cake. Every single thing was fantastic. We came here for a soul food dinner after church, and Sweet Georgia Brown delivered in every way. The portions are enormous--you'll have leftovers for days--and the flavor is second to none. This is the kind of food that feeds your soul. Five stars, without a doubt!
Per usual, fantastic! We (my wife and I)were able to eat for 3 days from 1 plate. No better place for a Sunday Soul Food dinner, or any other day.
Long time staple in the dallas area large portions for the price point make sure you are hungry when you sit down at sweet Georgia brown tell them Frankie sent you and no my name is not Frankie
Best home cooking and service I've ever had!!! I would give 10 stars if I could!! And the friendliest people!!!
I ordered the special which allowed you to pick specific meats and 3 sides. It was under 20.00 I had smoked chicken. Mac, greens and string beans. The Mac wasn't the best it needed some seasoning and more cheese The other sides were really good. The smoked chicken was so good. Service was relatively fast for a Saturday evening. You can tell that this place has been here for a long time. They also had big orders of food going out while I was there so it seems like it's a neighborhood staple.
OMG! This is a must stop when in Dallas! The portions are incredibly generous and the food is well seasoned and tasty. The customer service is outstanding. They truly take care of you. Be sure to let them know you're from out of town when visiting and leave a tip if you're dining in. True soul food!
Lovely service great food. It was really good. They gave good portions for what was 1950 for the turkey. Dinner plate $27 to me plate was also a pretty generous amount also. They had a three meat plate for one dollar more . I would give the barbecue sauce, a 10 out of 10 it was really good. It was not too sweet. The lady came and brought us four more rolls of cornbread while we were sitting and eating inside and they were piping hot really good. Service was on A1. It was really nice and I would recommend everyone to go here. 10/10 The
For those craving delicious home-cooked meals, this spot hits the mark! While not frequent visitors, my partner and I find solace in their comforting dishes when the urge strikes. Opting for takeout, we relish in the warmth and flavor of each dish from the comfort of our home. The food consistently arrives piping hot and expertly seasoned, fulfilling our cravings each time. The staff's warmth and personable demeanor add to the overall pleasant experience. With an array of choices laid out before you, decision-making becomes a delightful task. Additionally, the presence of a security guard inside, who kindly hands you your food bag upon exit, adds a reassuring touch to the experience.
Maybe 4.5 stars ONLY because it can be a challenge if you want to eat in. As a traveler I typically want to eat in and during my visit (party of 3) there was only a large booth open so we had to share it with a couple, and pressure from the dining room staff to eat quickly to accommodate others. At any rate the food is definitely 5 stars!!! I had a 2-meat combo, which came with 3 sides: I opted for polish sausage, which was served sliced, and pork ribs, along with mac n cheese, collards and cabbage. My colleagues ordered the bbq chicken, beef tips with gravy over rice and smothered pork chops. I honestly don't know that I've ever had better soul food in all my travels, and the portions are immense! None of us could finish our meals so plenty to take home and enjoy. I will add this place to my hot list everytime I'm in Dallas!!
